In Barcelona’s historic El Clot neighbourhood, this once-dark 1930s apartment has been transformed by Cristina Porta Diaz and Patrick Boner of atelier pbo into a bright, flexible home for a young minimalist couple who love hosting. By uncovering the original Catalan vaulted ceilings and brick walls, they revealed the character of the old building while reworking the layout around one generous open space for cooking, dining, relaxing, and entertaining. The new multifunctional zone is anchored by three custom kitchen elements- that include open pine shelving, IKEA cabinets upgraded with laminate fronts and a movable wooden veneer unit that doubles as a kitchen island, side board and bar.
