Excel Tutorial: How To Update Info Without Formatting Excel Spreadsheet When you need to update your Excel report template and you want to save time on formatting, the best way to go is use vlookup Excel formula. Vlookup Excel formula tells Excel to look up a unique value vertically in the first column of the Excel table (Excel range) you specify and bring back a value from column number you specify in the same row where it finds your unique value in the first column. =(VLOOKUP($B15,Data!$B$11:$O$350,2,FALSE) Above is the example of Excel vlookup formula from this video. Let me go step by step explaining Excel vlookup formula: $B15 -- this is your unique value (unique identifier) There should be a comma (,) after unique identifier in Excel vlookup formula Data! -- this is the name of the spreadsheet with look up data $B$11:$O$350 -- this is Excel range (Excel table) in the first column of which Excel will look up your unique identifier There should be a comma (,) after Excel range name 2 -- this is column number in Excel range where Excel will bring a value from FALSE -- command to Excel to bring back exact value (as opposed to an approximate one) I use Excel vlookup formula every day, it has reduced time I spend on updating my Excel reports and Excel templates by 99%. Very efficient method of work.
