Today I’m exploring something new - Aquapasto, a medium that thickens watercolour and gouache, letting you build soft, wax-like texture while keeping that luminous flow of water. I’ve always loved the buttery textures of oil and cold wax, but I’ve been craving that same sense of depth and atmosphere using water-based media. Aquapasto was suggested inside my membership, and I couldn’t resist testing it out. In this piece I’ve used gouache, watercolour and Aquapasto together - colours include white, ultramarine blue, phthalo blue, cerulean blue, emerald green, pearl glacier, violet and black, applied with a palette knife and catalyst wedge. If you enjoy atmospheric landscapes, texture experiments, or painting that feels meditative and intuitive, you might enjoy this one. I often get asked about the materials I use - you’ll find my go-to paints, tools and studio favourites listed here: 👉 https://www.michellesleeart.com/resou...
