This video is about how we see our mistakes and how they affect us. Dr. Fox explains that people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) often blame themselves too much, feeling shame and guilt, while people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) often blame others to avoid feeling bad. He uses examples of Sarah, who forgot a friend’s birthday and felt like a terrible person, and Mark, who missed a work deadline but blamed his boss instead of taking responsibility. Dr. Fox talks about why forgiving yourself is important and gives six steps to help: Acknowledge the mistake – Accept it without beating yourself up. Separate yourself from the mistake – A mistake is something you did, not who you are. Learn from it – See mistakes as chances to grow. Make amends if needed – Take responsibility but don’t let others guilt-trip you forever. Practice self-compassion – Be kind to yourself, like you would to a friend. Move forward – Set small goals to do better next time. The main message is: You are not your mistakes. Everyone messes up, but what matters is how you learn and grow from them. Daniel J.
