Lore The Fox has lost track of how long he's been sprinting. He also hasn't looked back in a while. Is he still being chased? Possibly. He swears he can still hear the terrible Spider's legs as they skitter across the Forest. Is it on the ground? Or jumping from tree to tree, setting up traps he can't see until they ensare him? It doesn't matter - the Fox just needs to keep going. He knows he'll be safe once he finds Her. Just a little longer. Just... a little... longer... Production details Well hello there, fellow music makers!!! I hope you're doing well and that this song finds you well! I'm submitting this song to Weekly Beats 2026 Week 4 as well as to the M8 Community Jam #48, where the theme was "Forest". After spending the whole week trying to come up with sketches and ideas, I had reached my Saturday evening feeling quite dispirited. Before going to bed that night, I booted up my M8 and brought up the MACROSYNTH's Plucked instrument (which I feel I've been really gravitating to this year) and just started dropping some random stacked notes using the [Internal MIDI trick]( • M8 Tutorial: How to make chords with ANY i... ) and found a really pretty sounding progression. I then created a second plucked voice that played against it in a slightly higher pitch than the original and felt I had gotten something special. I then created a WAVSYNTH Pitched Noise voice full of reverb (as I have also been doing a lot recently) to serve as the bass. Feeling accomplished knowing I had a seedling of something cool, I went to sleep. The very next day (today!), I jumped on the Dirtywave Discord's "Jamming" channel to hammer out what the full song was going to sound like. Special shout out to [erikthedude](https://weeklybeats.com/evanericksonm...) and [BarristerPlong](https://weeklybeats.com/barristerplong/) who joined in and were giving me a couple of cool ideas! Anyways, I was able to flesh out the entire thing and create a couple of sections I really liked. There are some parts of the whole thing that sound a little bit crowded to my ears, but I kind of don't care - I just thought that all the different voices going off simultaneously still sounded really fun. Also, mastering isn't really the fun part of making music for me, so I just tend to not really focus on it much at all beyond just bumping volumes up or down slightly when things are obviously drowning or overpowering other voices. After finishing the song, I noticed that the energy of the track evoked the sense of a mythical tale of a fox being chased by an evil spider throughout an enchanted forest. That's also when I realized my submission would fit for the M8 Community Jam, too! Very lucky, hahahaha... It really was not intentional! As usual, this was all composed on the Dirtywave M8 Tracker. What you're listening to is a direct render from the device itself.
