Join us today as we eat, camp and play on Quadra Island just off of Vancouver Island, BC. We are Scott and Steph, a couple of adventurers seeking out fun, unique and beautiful camping spots on and around Vancouver Island with our adventure pup Google and our converted Ford van, Stella. Exploring Quadra Island, BC, is an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Located off Vancouver Island's east coast, it offers lush forests, serene lakes, and rugged coastlines. To get there, take a ferry from Campbell River on Vancouver Island to Quathiaski Cove —just a quick 10-minute ride. WEBSITE - www.bcferries.com Here we are staying at the Heriot Bay Inn Campground. The oceanfront campground and RV park offer spectacular views, shady maple surroundings, full RV hookups (water, sewer, 15/30 amp), flush toilets, showers, a laundromat, a playground, and a walk‑on beach—all conveniently close to local amenities. WEBSITE - https://heriotbayinn.com/ Accommodations include ten European‑style rooms—with private bathrooms, verandah or shared patio access, and some located above the lively pub. The HBI Pub serves year-round with classic pub fare, cold drinks, live entertainment (bands, karaoke, open mic nights), and relaxed seaside ambiance. WEBSITE - https://heriotbayinn.com/ The next day we started our day at Quadra Island Farmers’ Market & Bazaar every Saturday from May to mid‑September in Quathiaski Cove—where you’ll discover fresh produce, homemade treats, jewelry, and crafts. There are a ton of local vendors and here we picked up Cathy's award winning salsa, hot sauce, hot honey, tortilla chips and more. You can find her on Facebook here / hotdamjam After the market we went to the Clove restaurant for a pizza and a cold drink. Here you can get a variety of items including handmade pizza. You can check out their Facebook page here / thecloveinthecove . After lunch we popped into the Cove Centre in Quathiaski Cove hosts a small but vibrant mix of services and shops—such as a café, bookstore, post office, and grocery—making it a convenient and essential stop. Next stop is Cape Mudge Lighthouse. Cape Mudge marks the southern tip of Quadra Island and offers both historical charm and cultural significance. Named by Captain George Vancouver in 1792 after Lt. Zachary Mudge, the site features the iconic octagonal Lighthouse—a reinforced‑concrete tower built in 1916, replacing the original 1898 structure. Nestled within We Wai Kai territory (known in Kwak’wala as Yaculta), Cape Mudge is home to the Nuyumbalees Cultural Centre, which preserves and shares the rich heritage of the Laich‑wiltach (Southern Kwakwaka’wakw) people. After the lighthouse we went to South End Winery. South End Farm Winery, situated at the south end of Quadra Island, is a charming family-run micro‑winery established in 2009. Guests are welcome to drop in for casual wine tastings (no reservations needed)—guided or self‑guided— often enjoyed on the patio amid vineyard views. URL - https://www.southend.ca/ After the winery we made our way to Rebecca Spit Provincial Park. Rebecca Spit Provincial Marine Park on Quadra Island is a scenic 2 km sandy spit extending into Drew Harbour. It features driftwood‑lined beaches, an easy loop trail, grassy picnic areas, and sheltered waters ideal for kayaking, swimming, and wildlife watching. Today we head out on a boating and fishing adventure with Chris from Quadra Island Boat Tours. Quadra Island Boat Tours in Heriot Bay offers private, customizable fishing and marine adventures. led by expert local captains. Guests frequently spot wildlife like whales, sea lions, and dolphins, visit hidden coves, and enjoy bonus activities. like prawn pulling or salmon fishing. Due to the incoming wind we had to shorten the trip to two hours and we were grateful that Chris was able to make this happen for us. Thanks for the good times and great stories!
