Derek responds to a listener’s question about the difference between the Mercedes 400E and 500E, which starts a discussion about gearing and how it can make or break a car. Jason always prefers shorter gearing except for in one car. He also offers his typical insight into why a lot of manufacturers purposefully employ long gearing today, particularly 3rd gear, to meet drive by noise regulations.
