Vijayawada - Kurnool Semi-High Speed Rail Corridor – A Future Travel Vision || Just 3 hours Journey

Indian Railways is planning to develop a semi-high-speed rail corridor between Vijayawada and Kurnool via Nandyal, which could significantly improve connectivity between the coastal and Rayalaseema regions of Andhra Pradesh. At present, there is no direct railway route between Vijayawada and Kurnool. Passengers currently have to travel through Dhone (Dronachellam), making the journey longer in both distance and travel time. The proposed semi-high-speed corridor aims to create a more direct route, reducing the overall distance between Vijayawada and Kurnool and drastically cutting travel time. This project would strengthen connectivity between Kurnool and the capital region of Amaravati, making travel faster and more convenient for passengers. Improved rail infrastructure on this route is also expected to boost tourism, trade, and economic development between the Rayalaseema region and the capital region, while providing better transportation facilities for thousands of daily travelers.
