Calm conditions and golden sunlight accompanied the journey along the Hutt River Trail, revealing seasonal changes and a few new developments along the way. 🪑 Riverside upgrades include new covered picnic tables and benches, while the long-anticipated Silverstream Water Bridge is nearly complete, with a straighter new approach taking shape. 🌉 Flood protection work continues, with freshly planted areas in progress. As the ride pushes south, the sun sinks low over the harbour 🌅. Seawall damage at Honiana Te Puni Reserve—caused by recent storms—temporarily detours the shared path, but progress continues into Petone’s historic shoreline. Returning under a darkening sky, this familiar route reveals its ever-changing nature. A steady winter spin, marked by light, stillness, and the subtle evolution of a well-ridden trail.
