When vision is disrupted, it directly affects your sense of safety and orientation in the world. The distress is real and consuming, and you do not need to minimize how hard this experience is. The central message is that these symptoms are not caused by damage to the eyes. They arise from a nervous system locked in chronic threat mode. When the system is hypervigilant, the brain stops filtering irrelevant details. Floaters that were always present become visible, sensations intensify, and the eyes strain from being held in a constant state of alert. Fear then feeds this loop, amplifying the symptoms further. I describe this as a storage-full system. Unfelt emotions, suppressed responses, and unresolved survival energy build up in the body over time. When the system reaches capacity, symptoms emerge as overflow signals. The eyes often carry this load because of their role in vigilance and perception. These symptoms are not malfunctions, but protective adaptations trying to restore balance. Healing does not come from fixing the eyes or forcing calm. It comes indirectly, by allowing the nervous system to process what has been held back. As emotional charge is safely felt and metabolized, the system exits survival mode, filtering returns, and the eyes can rest.
