Families in Khan Younis worked to patch up old and torn tents in preparation for the cold weather to come, while others dug trenches around their tents. Inside the tents, children huddled under blankets to keep warm. Aid groups and residents have warned that the tents distributed during the summer were not designed to withstand winter conditions. The flooding from last week’s storm highlighted failures in aid delivery, despite a ceasefire that has been in place for two months. Storm Byron flooded tent camps in Khan Younis, Rafah, and Deir al-Balah, leaving knee-deep water in some areas. Civil defense teams responded to hundreds of distress calls, and medical sources reported deaths linked to exposure to the cold in Gaza City’s Shati refugee camp. With more rain expected, Gaza’s displaced population faces another season of hardship, relying on shelters already weakened by the elements and with few replacements available. =========================================================== Clients are reminded to adhere to all listed restrictions and to check the terms of their licence agreements.
