YouTube Live: Wednesday 5th November 2025 | 18:00 GMT Title: Hydration, Appetite, and Blood Sugar in POTS A significant proportion of people with Long COVID and ME/CFS experience POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). In this session, Dr Binita Kane and Dr Harriet Carroll take a clear, science-led look at the physiology behind poorly understood symptoms such as excessive thirst, “low blood sugar” sensations, and increased hunger. Dr Harriet Carroll runs the Long Covid Scientific Consultancy, helping patients navigate long COVID, post-vaccine syndrome, and chronic illness. She holds a PhD in nutrition and metabolism focused on appetite and glucose regulation, with specific interests in hydration, sugar, and meal timing. She holds honorary status at Lund University working on hydration physiology in microgravity, and also brings lived experience as a vaccine-injured patient. Dr Binita Kane is a consultant respiratory physician and founder of The Long COVID Clinic. She leads a multidisciplinary team providing assessment and evidence-informed rehabilitation for adults and children, with a strong emphasis on patient safety, education, and translating research into practice. Helen Oakleigh is a filmmaker, actor, writer and director, and a founding member of Long Covid Support. As co-host of the Fireside Chat series, she keeps complex science accessible and grounded.
