It is under Part 4th-A Article 51A of the Constitution. Number of Duties :- Originally there were 10 duties; one more was added by the 86th Amendment, 2002 (making it 11 duties in total). Purpose :- To remind citizens that while enjoying Fundamental Rights, they also have responsibility towards the nation. These Duties are more about civic responsibility and moral obligation, relying on citizen's voluntary adherence. Nature: They are non - justiciable (not enforceable by law), but Parliament can make laws to enforce them. We can learn all 11 Fundamental Duties through a Mnemonic 😃 Mnemonic is 👇 " Respect Great Soldiers Who Help Preserve Environment, Science, Property, Excellence, Education" Respect :- Respect Constitution, Flag & Anthem. Great :- Great ideals of freedom struggle. Soldiers :- Sovereignty, unity & integrity of India. Who :- Willingly defend the nation/renderservice . Help :- Harmony & brotherhood. Preserve :- Preserve heritage & Culture. Environment :- Protect environment, Forests & wildlife. Science :- Develop scientific temper & spirit of inquiry. Property :- Safeguard public property and avoid violence. Excellence :- Strive for excellence in all spheres. Education :- Provide education to children. ( 6-14 years).
