Video made possible by Explore.org and IWS https://www.youtube.com/live/RmmAzrAkKqI Wow, I went over three camera angles yesterday to find the aerial dispute between at least one of the two adult intruders. Could it be a mating pair? Two rogues that aren't mates or two males? Well, Akecheta was trying so hard to protect his territory and nest.🛡🦅 He was fierce flying around giving chase and even diving like a missile from above like he was on a mission!🚀 It seems as though they may have had more than one tussle during the day or past couple days since one visitor had dried blood on its head earlier in the day. By some of the slow motion clips you can clearly see a lot more white still showing on Akecheta's head and then intruder collides with Akecheta mid air and they spiral just a bit before going out of view. It looked as though he may have been clipped by a talon in an attempted grab. Just a minute later they both land on different tors and the intruder swoops at Akecheta causing him to jump tallons up and fall on his back in defense but quickly rights himself. I've replayed and recorded as much of that dispute as I could. You really have to use your eagle eyes to catch them soaring around.🧐 Thunder was vocalizing her displeasure with the intruders yesterday. Its not typical for females to battle with males and they're smart about risk taking for the most part. While sound isn't always clear, you can see her beak open as she gives warnings. At one point I did see 4 adults on screen at once while Akecheta was taking cover a few feet below the top of the tor, Thunder was standing guard on top and the main intruder flew off after spotting the other visitor in flight. It crosses the screen on a different cam angle! I froze that capture so you don't miss it! They must be checking out the real estate and hoping for a new home. Note: cams are down, possibly due to their solar powered system but I will be checking on sweet Akecheta all day! Checking the time stamps on video clips helps show time lapsed between the action unfolding. I found the dive clip separately so I'll post that too but it was 20-30min before the aerial tussle. Please see previous post caption for more information. In my unprofessional opinion, flying with an active bleed is what made Akecheta look so dirty and covered his head but I am just praying it's not as bad as it looks!🙏❤️🩹🦅🤞 🎥🦅Camera and live feed provided courtesy of Institute for Wildlife Studies & explore. org Video captured, edited and captioned by D.
