Custom-made watch pivot polisher

Using Jacot tool the tool is hand cranked to rotate the pivot and the polishing wheel. Micrometer adjusts the wheel engagement . The tool is simple to make, but some parts - especially the bearings - require close tolerances. The most demanding is the polishing wheel; it must run true and wobble free, tolerances are in the +/- 2 micron, or better range. Here it is made out of alloy steel, treated to RC65 and ground with very fine file-like surface. Included are a few stages in the making of the wheel.
