AfriWoman Chats | Bernard Oguru In this episode of AfriWoman Chats, Tchiyiwe @TchiyiweTChihana is joined by Bernard Oguru @bernardinoW a multidisciplinary artist whose work moves between painting, voice, and abstraction. Drawing on Yoruba visual language, masquerade traditions, and diasporic experience, Bernard’s practice reinterprets ancestral imagery through contemporary form. His paintings engage with memory, distortion, symbolism, and material texture, asking how culture continues to live and evolve across generations. This conversation reflects on art as a way of remembering, abstraction as a visual language tradition as something living. We also speak to Bernard about the role of the artist within community and contemporary society AfriWoman Chats is a series of reflective conversations hosted by Tchiyiwe Chihana on African Voices Platform, exploring culture, care, creativity, and lived experience communities.
