EASY STEAMED STICKY RICE, BAMBOO STEAMER

In this video I show y'all how to make easy steamed sticky rice in the bamboo steamer. This classic Asian side dish is easy to make and is delicious with many main dishes. Sticky rice is different than other common rice due to its sticky nature when steamed. Shopping List: 2 cups Asian sweet glutenous white rice Water Salt and pepper to taste. Directions: Rinse rice several times until the water runs clear. Cover in cold water about 2-3 inches above rice and soak for 24 hours. If in a hurry, cover in hot water and soak 3-4 hours. After soaking, pour out the soaking water and place rice in the bamboo steamer basket lined with steamer paper, cheesecloth or parchment paper, which you fold over the rice. Cover with lid. Bring about 1 inch water to a full boil in a wok, high-sided skillet or saucepan, then reduce heat to a steady simmer. Place steamer in the wok and steam 20-25 minutes until rice is softened and sticky. It's okay if the bottom of the steamer is in about 1/4 inch of the water to prevent scorching. When done, remove steamer from wok. Be careful removing the lid due to the steam. Season to taste and serve with your main dish. Will remain fresh in a sealed container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
