Little Zigzag Falls and Little Zigzag River are near Mt Hood off Hwy 26 and Kiwanis Camp Road/Road 39. It is right at the end of the chain installation area on the left. Road 39 is a couple miles long. It ends at Zigzag Falls parking area, but in the winter the road may not be clear to the end. We parked at Hidden Lake trail head and walked from there. I have had this on my list for a few years. I am glad I finally made the hike. It is short, but the pay off is fantastic. Little Zigzag River as every bit a good as the Falls. I enjoyed following the river all the way up with only a few places where the trail veered off the river. I called it a creek several times in the video. I should learn the true definitions between a creek, a stream and a river. This is a short half mile hike back to the Falls. It follow the beautiful Little Zigzag River all the way. Since I have not done this hike in the summer I cannot comment on it, but in the winter it is great. We were alone on the trail at 9:30 am on a Saturday morning. The only people we met were at the trail head. It was obvious others have make the hike as the trail was well worn and east to follow. Although not a large Falls (41 feet high) it was stunning seeing it in the snow. A breeze higher up in the trees made a light snow falls happen a few times. It was cold as it never got above freezing but it is also short so it was never a worry. This would be a great trail to add onto another longer hike. A 1.0 mile round trip hike after Trillium Lake or Zigzag Canyon out of Timberline Lodge would be a fantastic day. I would at least add on a full view of Mt Hood.
