Not every child's first breath is the same. Rosebell and Rhoda explore how birth is shaped by geography, politics, and access to care, highlighting the experiences of women in African communities alongside global perspectives. Their conversation sheds light on the inequalities and challenges many women face in bringing new life into the world. Rosebell Kagumire is a Pan-African feminist writer, activist, and analyst whose work is rooted in justice, equality, and decolonization across the continent and beyond. As Curator and Editor of African Feminism and columnist for New Internationalist Magazine, she does crucial work on shaping African and minoritized narratives towards liberatory futures. Rosebell bridges scholarship and activism at the intersection of media, conflict, and feminist knowledge. She is a founding member of the African Feminist Collective on Feminist Informed Policies and serves on the Editorial Board of Minority Africa. Her editorial work includes co-editing Challenging Patriarchy: The Role of Patriarchy in the Roll-Back of Democracy and contributing to the forthcoming anthology Rising for Palestine: Africans in Solidarity for Decolonisation and Liberation. Her writing appears in international media outlets where she challenges power structures and articulates feminist imaginations and alternatives. In an era marked by populist waves, anti-intellectualism, and the politics of othering, Rosebell's voice offers clarity, courage, and a vision for transformative change rooted in solidarity and justice. Recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader and named among Avance Media's 100 Most Influential Women in Africa (2021), Rosebell's fearless advocacy and sharp analysis make her an essential voice in global conversations on feminism, decolonization, and systemic change—from reproductive justice to migrants' rights and racial equality. Rhoda Berger is the CEO of Global Perspectives, a Think & Do Tank and independent dialogue platform that fosters relations between Europe, Germany, and international partners, with a particular focus on Africa, while promoting multilateral cooperation. She is deeply committed to reshaping narratives and enhancing understanding of the African continent, especially in the areas of private-sector development and economic partnerships. She holds a master’s degree in economics from Copenhagen Business School and WU Vienna, and gained significant experience in strategy consulting prior to her current role.
