Hello friends. This is one of those locations I’ve visited multiple times but never documented it. With the heat of the summer on full blast I decided to hop in the Hokendauqua Creek and have a better look at some of the cribbing that remains of the Hokendauqua Creek aqueduct built by the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company. I could not nail down an exact date of construction however it had to be sometime in the mid to late 1820’s. It is possible that the cribbing is replacement for the original. I can not confirm this at this time. This was one of four aqueducts built by the LCN on the lower division of the system. The bridge railroad bridge is originally Lehigh and Susquehanna, a subsidiary of the LCN. The Central Railroad of New Jersey leased the railroad in 1871 and upgraded the bridge in 1900 leaving behind one of the best date stamps I’ve seen. Thank you for watching and please share anything you want to add in the comments. 7/25/25
