One of the highlights of our 2025 One Young World Summit was a main-stage session organised by the NL Ministry of Foreign Affairs, exploring how we can move from a take–make–waste world to one that thrives on circular thinking. 🌍 Our NL Ambassador for Youth, Education and Work, Jurriaan Middelhoff, was joined on stage by Mathias Charles from Lebanon, co-founder and president of Live Love Recycle and one of our 30 Enterprising Futures Scholars proudly sponsored by the NL Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken. Together, they explored how a single entrepreneur can spark the global transition toward a circular economy. 💡 In Lebanon, waste management faces two major challenges: the absence of public recycling systems and limited awareness about sorting and collection. Live Love Recycle is tackling both by digitising waste management through an app that lets users request on-demand recyclable waste collection. The results? Over 60 jobs created and a growing movement toward sustainability. ♻️ And Mathias' mission doesn’t stop there: Live Love Recycle is now transforming organic waste into green energy through anaerobic digestion, producing biogas to power homes and vehicles. His goal: to close the loop, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and prove that waste isn’t an end, but a resource. 💚
