BVFD - Working Structure Fire *Helmet Cam*

07:18 - Arriving on Scene 09:15 - Helmet Cam I apologize for the stability issues with the dash camera. The mount didn't completely seal to the suction cup on the windshield. 02/17/2025 | 04:43 hrs FIRE / STRUCTURE - RESIDENTIAL 100 Block of Lee Road 2007 | Beauregard On the morning of February 17th, 2025, the Beauregard Volunteer Fire Department and automatic aid companies were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire with entrapment. The caller indicated flames were visible from the roof, and occupants were still inside the residence. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a double-wide mobile home with fire visible from the roof. It was confirmed on fire department arrival that all occupants and animals had exited the residence uninjured. Crews deployed a 1 3/4" pre-connect to the bravo side of the structure for an interior fire attack. The crew entered the residence through the bravo side door and initiated their attack. There were heavy fire conditions found in the void space between the ceiling and the roof nearly throughout the entire structure. Due to low staffing from the primary department and no response from either automatic aid department, the two-man interior crew worked together to remove the ceiling with hand tools in nearly the entire residence and perform fire suppression. During the initial attack, the decision was made to not pass the kitchen/living room corridor due to the sagging of the ceiling and a potential roof collapse which can later be seen at 18:34 in the video. During fire attack operations, a second 1 3/4" pre-connect was deployed to the alpha side for a defensive operation to assist interior crews with keeping the flames controlled when deemed safe to do so. The two-man interior crew worked for approximately one and a half hours continuously performing fire suppression and removing the ceiling until the fire was logged under control at 06:30hrs. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no injuries were reported on the scene. The Beauregard Volunteer Fire Department responded with four apparatus and five personnel, remaining on the scene for four hours before returning to service. The Lee County Sheriff's Office Alabama and the Lee County, Alabama Emergency Management Agency also responded to the scene to provide assistance. ** This video shows the lack of volunteer firefighters across the United States and highlights the challenges volunteer fire departments face due to these manpower shortages. ** The Beauregard Volunteer Fire Department, founded in May of 1978, is a 100% Volunteer ISO Class 5 Fire Department located in Lee County, Alabama that provides fire rescue services to approximately 13,000-16,000 residents and 123 square miles of unincorporated Lee County, Alabama, answering approximately 1,100 calls for service annually.   / beauregardfire
