Our 4th Golf Networking meet is tomorrow, Saturday 30th August, 6pm at EasyGolf, Da Nang. I will be there to coach the ladies and my partner will coach the guys! 6pm - 10pm The past 3 have been super fun with a mixed crown of local Vietnamese, some travellers and some expats! See you there :) I finally had the chance to visit Phu Quoc Island for the very first time, right off the back of visiting Kuala Lumpur again. If you’ve ever thought about traveling to Vietnam’s famous “Pearl Island,” this guide will give you a first-hand look at what the island is like, how it feels and whether or not it's worth it. ✈️ The Journey from Da Nang to Phu Quoc: Our trip started in Da Nang, a city I absolutely love for its beaches, food, and laid-back vibe. But this time, we were heading south in search of something new. There’s no direct flight from Da Nang to Phu Quoc, so we first flew from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City, which took about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The domestic flight was smooth and easy, and since Ho Chi Minh is one of the busiest hubs in Vietnam, it was the perfect place to transfer. From Ho Chi Minh, we caught a short connecting flight directly to Phu Quoc International Airport. This leg of the trip took less than an hour, and before I knew it, we were descending over the ocean with breathtaking views of turquoise water and lush green islands. It already felt like paradise before we even landed. 🏨 Staying at the Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc For accommodation, we chose the Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc, one of the most luxurious and beautiful resorts on the island. This resort is located right on Ong Lang Beach, which is known for its golden sand, calm waters, and stunning sunsets. The resort itself is absolutely stunning — modern villas and suites with ocean views, multiple infinity pools, and tropical gardens everywhere you look. The service was five-star from the moment we checked in. Staff greeted us with welcome drinks, explained all the facilities, and made sure we felt right at home. Our room was spacious, with elegant décor, a private balcony overlooking the beach, and all the little touches that make a luxury stay special. One of my favorite things about staying at Mövenpick was the daily Chocolate Hour — yes, unlimited chocolate treats every afternoon! The resort also had several restaurants serving everything from Vietnamese cuisine to international dishes. The beachfront bar was the perfect place to enjoy cocktails while watching the sun dip below the horizon. If you’re looking for a place to relax in style and comfort, Mövenpick Resort Waverly is definitely a top choice. 🌴 Things to Do in Phu Quoc Of course, we are on a golf specific trip but the island has so much to offer. Here are some of the highlights that you absolutely shouldn’t miss: Relax on the Beaches 🏖️ Phu Quoc is home to some of Vietnam’s most beautiful beaches. Long Beach and Ong Lang Beach are perfect for swimming and sunbathing, while Starfish Beach is famous for its crystal-clear waters and the starfish that gather along the shore. Explore the Night Market 🍜 The Phu Quoc Night Market is a must-visit for food lovers. Here you can try local specialties like grilled seafood, fresh tropical fruits, and the island’s famous fish sauce products. Hon Thom Cable Car 🚠 This is the longest sea-crossing cable car in the world and an absolute must-do in Phu Quoc. The ride takes you from Phu Quoc to Hon Thom Island, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean and islands below. Discover Local Culture 🙏 Phu Quoc is also home to temples, traditional fishing villages, and pepper farms. The island is known for producing some of the best pepper in Vietnam, as well as high-quality fish sauce, which is a staple ingredient in Vietnamese cooking. Visiting Phu Quoc for the first time was an unforgettable experience. From the journey itself — flying from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh and then onward to this tropical paradise — to staying at the luxurious Mövenpick Resort Waverly, every moment felt special. The island has the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure, making it a must-visit destination whether you’re traveling as a couple, with family, or even solo. I hope this vlog gives you a sense of what it’s like to explore Phu Quoc for the first time. If you’ve already been, I’d love to hear about your experiences in the comments. And if not, hopefully, this inspires you to add Phu Quoc to your Vietnam travel bucket list. Watch next: #vietnam #desi #travel
