7/26/25 Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum / Alna, Maine While on a family vacation, I stumbled across the WW&F. While I was there, I was able to catch 3 of their locomotives operating. The Number 9 was pulling a passenger train, No. 52 was on fire patrol, and No. 11 was also on a passenger train. The volunteers at the the railroad were very nice and were happy to answer any questions about the railroad and its equipment. The No. 11 is currently at the museum on lease from Maine Locomotive & Machine Works. While I was there I was able to see the frame for the new locomotive (WW&F No. 11) that they are in the progress of fabricating. If you are ever in Maine I would definitely recommend checking out this railroad. History The WW&F originally operated from 1894 to1933. The railway reopened in 1989 and continues to operate today. This railway was originally and still is a two foot gauge railroad. The WW&F used to have 43 miles of track. Currently the railway is about three and a half miles long, but eventually will be longer as there are plans to rebuild more track.
