VENICE, CA — Wednesday, September 10, 2025 — A multi-agency cleanup operation took place Wednesday morning on Venezia Avenue in Venice, part of the City of Los Angeles’ ongoing efforts to improve sanitation, safety, and public access along the coastline. The sweep was led by the Department of Public Works in coordination with the Los Angeles Police Department, Clean Harbors Environmental Services and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT). Enforcement focused on trash piled around a parked RV on Venezia Avenue and in the alley behind the street. Traffic Control Officers issued a citation to the RV for being parked during scheduled street sweeping. Representatives from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office also met with the vehicle’s owner, who ultimately agreed to move the RV after months in the same location. Neighbors, who gathered to observe the operation, expressed relief, telling officers the vehicle had been a source of late-night disturbances and suspicious activity. Inspectors sorted through remaining items and removed any materials deemed hazardous, which can include items like batteries, aerosols, or other potentially toxic waste. Clean Harbors personnel in orange vests collected any dangerous materials for safe disposal, while Department of Public Works crews in yellow safety vests cleared away the rest. Advance cleanup notices had been posted before enforcement. Staff from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office observed the operation to ensure coordination among agencies. No arrests or citations beyond the parking violation were issued during the operation. These cleanups are part of the city’s dual-track strategy of maintaining public order while providing pathways to housing and support services. Santa Monica Closeup will continue to document coastal enforcement, homelessness outreach, and public safety measures along the Westside. #VeniceBeach #Homelessness #PublicSafety #LawEnforcement #cleanupoperation — This video is protected by copyright and provided for personal viewing only.
