A study published in Nutrients using data from the Norwegian Mother, Father, and Child Cohort Study found that children eating healthier diets exhibited lower depression and anxiety symptoms and developed more positive personality traits such as extroversion, conscientiousness, and emotional stability by age 8. Similarly, mothers who followed healthy diets during pregnancy were more likely to have children with fewer mental health issues and more favorable personality traits.
