Join me for this chair yoga sequence as we give the lower body a break and focus on the upper body and core. We begin by checking in with how we feel and coming into a nice supported posture. We add in some gentle warming movements before we get right to it. We start with our Mountain Pose to Chair Pose and add some gentle twist to engage the core. Next, we do the reverse movement as we come into our Boat Pose. If you are seated all the way back in your chair, you can still practice this move by grounding through the feet and gently pushing back into the seat back to engage the abdominal muscles. We get the arms moving with our Warrior 2 flow and then add in a fun Eagle arms variation before we finish with a quick flow to get the arms moving and bring awareness to our core. Remember to always go at your own pace. Focus on the breath first, and then the movements. I create my chair yoga sequences and exercises while keeping in mind common mobility restrictions. I eliminate any loaded spinal flexion in the seated position as well as full rotation of the spine in the poses. Be sure to always do what is right for you.
