My Melbourne Marathon 2024

Welcome to the Melbourne Marathon 2024. Join me as I run this iconic event, one of Australia's biggest marathons. This will be my 12th Melbourne Marathon, I love running this event and this iconic city. After another successful 24-week marathon training program, everything came done to this day. As a run coach, I design my own training programs and apart from myself, have coached others to run their first marathons. My running programs are designed on the Lydiard methodology, which has been used by first time marathoners, all the way to Olympians. Starting at 7am on Sunday 13th October, 9000 runners hit the road in the full-marathon. It was a cool morning of 8 degrees and clear skies, with a forecast top of 25—ideal running conditions. My run went according to plan, although I entered the race with some persistent tightness in my right leg and foot. Unfortunately, this tightness turned into cramps at around the 35k mark, with my right foot locking up completely with 5k still to go. After pulling to the side and working on my foot, I was able to straighten it out a bit, which allowed me to continue but with quite a bit of pain. I eventually finished the race but at a pretty slow pace towards the end. A finishing time of 4:11 was a bit slower than what I was aiming for, I had hoped to finish under 4hrs.
