On this trip, we started from the Yingzui Peninsula in northern Luoyang and drove along the scenic Yellow River Ancient Capital No. 1 Tourist Highway, ending at the parking lot of the Xiaolangdi Dam Visitor Center. The Yellow River Ancient Capitals No.1 Tourist Highway is a road built in Henan Province, China, with the theme of "Soul of the Yellow River, Rhythm of Ancient Capitals, Spirit of China." It starts at Hangu Pass in Lingbao, Sanmenxia, in the west and ends at Yanming Lake in Zhongmu, Zhengzhou, in the east, with Luoyang as its central hub. The 22-mile stretch between Yingzui Peninsula and the Xiaolangdi Dam Visitor Center is marketed as one of the most beautiful drives along the Yellow River in central China. From Yingzui Peninsula, the road hugs Wan Shan Lake—a 270-acre mirror-like reservoir—on one side and 200- to 260-foot ocher cliffs on the other. Overlooks along the route provide sweeping views of the Xiaolangdi Reservoir, where the once-turbulent Yellow River spreads into a broad, tranquil lake. Hope you all enjoy it!
