Yá’át’ééh! Aaron Tsosie here — sharing a highlight from Saturday’s Pow Wow at the 2025 Navajo Nation Fair in Window Rock, Arizona. The Gourd Dance is a sacred warrior society dance with roots in the Kiowa Nation. It’s often held before the pow wow grand entry to honor veterans and warriors who have protected our people. The songs are powerful — steady, deliberate, and filled with meaning. You’ll often see dancers carry rattles and wear red-and-blue blankets, representing both tradition and respect. At the Navajo Nation Fair, the Gourd Dance is always a moving moment. Families gather, the arena fills with pride, and the songs echo reminders of sacrifice, honor, and survival. I’m grateful to share this footage with you all — may it remind us of the strength of our ancestors and the warriors among us today.
