Twentieth Century Nicoville comes back with a musical selection from a popular Twentieth Century Fox film, a Don Bluth film to be precise. Anastasia is a film produced in the 1990s which tells a fictionalized, romanticized, and fantsiesque story about the Russian princess, the Grand Duchess, Anastasia Romanov who like his family (headed by Czar Nicholas II) were killed during the Russian Revolution. It was speculated that Anastasia survived that turmoil, and in this story she is alive going by the orphan name Anya. Count Vlad and Dimitri find the girl as Anya and try to pull off the greatest con in history by taking Anya and dressing her up as the lost princess Anastasia to Paris to be presented to Dowager Empress Marie Feodorovna for a good monetary sum, while evading the wrath of the wizard Rasputin (who in real life was actuall a holy man (and probably a mad man)). In this production Chad Dickson and Robert Underdunk “Sideshow Bob” Terwiliger play the role of Dimitri and Count Vlad as them, and the rest of St. Petersburg sing about the rumor that Anastasia (played by Maha Balor) is still alive. Whether the rumor is true or not is a mystery, and keeps them going through these dark times. Without further ado, it is now time for you to hear the rumor that plagues St.Petersburg (or Leningrad at this point).
