Body Cam Video Of Florida Fish & Wildlife Officers Being Salty After Forced To Release Man. On June 15, 2024, an officer with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) was on water patrol in a marked vessel in Broward County. During the patrol, the officer received an email from a lieutenant at 1:30 p.m. The email was a BOLO (be on the lookout) for two individuals wanted for aggravated battery on an elderly volunteer at Beer Can Island (Oleta River State Park). The email indicated that the individuals had possibly launched their vessels from Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park. The officer then proceeded to the boat ramp at Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park. Upon arrival at the boat ramp, the two individuals were observed tying up their jet skis. The officer initiated a vessel stop while waiting for backup to arrive. Once backup was on the scene, both individuals were detained, and their Miranda Warnings were read. One of the individuals was uncooperative throughout the incident, while the other was confrontational and belligerent, shouting racial slurs at other officers on the scene. Despite being repeatedly told to remain seated, the individual continued to stand up. At one point, he slipped and fell at the boat ramp, claiming to have broken his ankle. Emergency medical services (EMS) were called after he requested medical attention. The officer was instructed by the chain of command to release the first individual, who left the scene without further issues. Once EMS arrived, the second individual was placed on a stretcher and loaded into the ambulance for evaluation. However, after being released by the officer’s chain of command, the individual refused medical attention and walked out of the ambulance, continuing to yell and threaten officers on the scene. All officers subsequently left the area. Approximately 30 minutes later, dispatch received a call reporting that the same individual was still in the park, threatening park rangers. The officer responded by water to the scene once again and detained the individual. The individual continued to be belligerent toward officers and state park staff. The officer issued a one-year trespass from Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park, and the individual acknowledged the order before being escorted out of the park.
