Its 9:15 On a beautiful Saturday morning where we start out at CPR 33 on Pan Am’s Conn River Main line just in time to catch Amtrak 461, the Valley Flyer southbound for Springfield. I only had enough time to get out and shoot without the tripod so accuse the shakyness. Once 461 was on his way we head north to East Deerfield Yard again this time greeted by an East Deerfield Yard Job headed west to bring the BFED’s Consist into the yard that arrived south earlier that night. Once he passed we held our ground at CPF 384 where we hear RJED who is not too far away. After about 30 minutes we see the head end of RJED heading engines light into the yard with the consist left on the industrial track to be picked up by the yard job once traffic clears out. Once RJED’s power was in the yard, action died down again. But not for as yard crews were shuffling around power for the EDRJ and the yard job shoving cars to the west end. About another half hour of waiting we now here NS 16R on the radio. So we head over to CPF 385 in Greenfield to catch him. After waiting for about 10 minutes we see the nose of 6964. Once he passed we head to the west end of the yard to catch the end of 16R into the yard but surprisingly we caught all the way up to the head end. After watching half of the train into the yard we race to the east end of the yard where we see him stop and make his first move, pull ahead of the turn out and back down onto the Deerfield pick up. At this point i was freezing after walking down to the river in the snow so i decided it was time to head home.
