I know this is the 3rd EFI troubleshooting video in a row, and maybe you're not a fan of EFI because they can be more complex, but that's why these videos are so important. Thanks for understanding:) A faulty Throttle Position Sensor DID cause this unusual starting condition. Thank you to whoever sent me the video, and I apologize for not remembering (it's been awhile). This isn't likely to be THE symptom when a throttle position sensor (TPS) fails. In fact, I suspect there were other conditions that led to it becoming so smokey on start. But it sure threw a curveball at the KOHLER Technician repairing it! Testing is quick and easy; compare actual throttle plate position to the TPS percentage displayed by the KOHLER Diagnostic System. If they don't match, odds are the TPS has failed. However, this isn't a common failure with the current brushless TPS. If replacing the TPS, be sure to follow the service manual procedure to avoid damaging the magnet pressed onto the throttle shaft. Damaging the magnet is likely to cause a similar failure (actual TPS won't match TPS % displayed). READ THE SERVICE MANUAL. FOLLOW ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. PLEASE!!!
