"From Us to Somewhere Else" follows the tree metaphor while looking outwards to the forest, the community, with the perspective of strength in teamwork. The music combines members of the Chase Morrin duet and quartet, showing the collaboration of musical themes and members while combining improvised music from everyone involved. As musicians, we believe that music is an art form that can mimic and bolster human life and community, and is fundamental to who we are. Chase Morrin, piano, Lihi Haruvi, saxophone, Lesley Mok, drums, Max Kraus, bass, Womni Jung, vocals. Composed by Chase Morrin and Wonmi Jung. Lyrics by Wonmi Jung. Chase Morrin is a pianist, composer, and educator from San Diego. Chase graduated from Harvard, earning a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Neurobiology. He earned a Master of Music (M.M.) degree from the New England Conservatory and a second M.M. in piano performance at the Global Jazz Institute, Berklee College of Music. Chase has performed at the Panama Jazz Festival, Centrum Jazz Festival, and the Monterey Jazz Festival, receiving the Gerald Wilson award for his big band composition “Mumphis”.
