The squat is not just a resting position or something we only perform with a barbell. It can be a transition between standing, to other floor based positions such as kneeling, sitting, the fisherman stance, and many others. Each of these positions can be also used for resting. Very useful, when you might not have a chair! In this follow along session, I show 3 basic squat movements you can use to transition between resting postures. These are - 1. Squat to Kneeling 2. Squat to Sit 3. Fisherman Getup to Squat I demonstrate a way to condition the ranges in between these resting positions, so you can elegantly transition between them. Although simple, performed with intention and control, these transform into powerful joint conditioning tools. This improves your ability to operate with deep knee flexion and move whilst being close to the floor. Its not only useful for locomotion practice, but also for everyday living. Many people avoid the floor because they are restricted in the way they can even access and enjoy the above resting postures.
