Tried all the stretches, up, back, along the side and still seem to be locked up? Maybe rotation is the key! Often people talk about thoracic rotation, but in this video I demonstrate ways of opening up the entire structure in rotation. I present three movements to explore: 1. Wrestlers Stretch - a unique stretch which creates a rotational coiling up the foot, side of the leg and outer hips. Great for opening up for rotational kicking motions. 2. Standing Spine Rotation - a global spine rotation - very simple, very effective. 3. Arm emptying - learning how to transmit force efficiently in rotation into the arms, and rotationally "wring and empty" the spine of tension Practice and explore each, they have served me well. Be gentle to yourself at first and attempt at lower intensities - you don't have to power crank yourself into rotation - this can sometimes inhibit rather than open!
