Irisu SP beaten on BEX. PLEASE pay attention, because I am not doing this again...Or at least thats what I would like to say, but a certain Cocoa related achievement means I will unfortunately have to do this fight at least 1 more time...[WARNING: Contains Rant inside] ...Or at least there used to be one, but the rant got so big it surpassed the amount of characters Youtube allows in its description xD. If you REALLY want to (You dont), you can read the full, original version here: https://pastebin.com/Sr2AUSXc But the short, summarized & somewhat more positive version (A bit less salty about it than back when I wrote the original) is: Fight is frustrating in general- it has a ton of stuff thats not blind/1st try friendly, Rank LOVES to constantly drop the SECOND you stop attacking Irisu (4:42 & 11:40 are great examples), theres a couple of times it is downright cheap/unfair, and the entire thing just seems to be designed in order to be as annoying as possible. Miru SP was also really really hard at first but it never felt nearly as frustrating as this, nor I ever believed it was being cheap/unfair. It wasnt annoying, and I had fun pretty much the entire time I was learning it. I honestly cant claim the same for this fight. 1st Phase: The worst. Filled with either unfun "Trick" attacks that are either impossible and you get hit by them 3+ times, or hilariously easy and trivial when you know the trick, absolutely no in-between. NOT a good phase. The faster you skip it, the better. And you can do so with the Amulet Regen trick at the very start. Follow my exact steps in the video at the very beginning and you will see how to skip most of it. I am very glad I found this to be honest, because by skipping the worst part it made the fight more fun. 2nd Phase: Very hard, but not too annoying, for the most of the part. Some fun innovations on the original attacks! You really want to damage Irisu every single time she lands. You HAVE to in fact. My one complaint is the Mortality Debuff Ring at the very end of the phase. Theres zero excuses for this. Completely unnecesary BS cheap move that seems straight from a troll game (You know the type, IWBTG games and such- Although even those hardly insta-kill runs after spending 10 MINUTES on it). Miru SP didnt need to resort to such BS to be a difficult boss. 3rd Phase: Fairly good for the most of the part. Probably the best part. I dont understand most of this stuff but I havent reached it enough times to really tell if they are broken or I am doing it wrong, so I will default to the later... Very rarely you may get the Instant Death effect for no apparent reason. This happened to me on 3-4 occasions. I am sure there IS a reason for this to happen and its not actually random, but it doesnt changes the fact that theres a fair chance you may just get insta killed from nowhere and NOT EVEN KNOW WHY, and thats hardly good design. I swear its for things like this I cant fully enjoy this fight. Too many.. questionable design choices... Everything from 11:45 onwards was done completely blind- as in, it was the first time I ever saw these attacks so I had zero clue on what to do. That also includes the following phase (!)... Endurance: I-I dont even know... I just prayed and tried my best to dodge and... I managed to survive it all 1st try somehow O_o. I wasnt expecting to win at all, I was just merely trying to learn exactly what was going on at the time for the next attempt(s) that got here. Cute ending. So... did I ultimately enjoy the fight? I am honestly not very sure myself. At times I hated it. Other times I had fun with it. Towards the end especially, I had some sort of Stockholm Syndrome and started to accept/enjoy it all, annoying/cheap stuff included. One thing is for sure though: At 15 hours of attempts, THIS is officially the hardest challenge I have ever done in Rabi-Ribi- I know I have said that a couple of times in the past already in some other of my older clears, but this time is for real- After all, BEX is over, theres no other boss left to dispute Irisu SP’s place as the Hardest Boss in the game. She was also one of the most rage-inducing bosses in my entire gaming career. For better or worse... I think this was an ultimately good experience, but I dont think I liked it enough to want a rematch any time soon... except I will have to return to it with Cocoa ... :/ Miru SP is a challenging fight, but its a well-done fight. Irisu SP is the hardest boss in the game, yes, but perhaps not for all the right reasons. /Rant Still love this game, and consider it as one of the best games I have ever played- Just, not particulary because of this boss fight, ok? ...I hope Cocoa is well-prepared and ready for this hell.
