#PandaStory Day 266: Xiao Qi Ji is being taught how to be a bear by his mother Mei Xiang. In the first scene, which took place just before 4pm yesterday afternoon, Qi Ji wakes up and comes to room 2's playpen where Mei Xiang had just sat down to eat some more bamboo. This was an unusual time for him to be awake, and it was unclear if he wanted to nurse, but it evolved into a semi-easy play bout reminiscent of those they used to have in the den doorway ... lots of Mei Xiang nibbling on Qi Ji, and Qi Ji trying to climb on Mei Xiang ... only Mei Xiang was sitting up, and kept lifting her 40+ pound cub up in the air! At the 4:12 & 6:30 marks, we hear him vocalize his displeasure at what she is doing to him, and Mei Xiang backed off. (All but the last scene have audio ... and it appears that there won't be audio this afternoon into overnight ... phooey!). Qi Ji had just woken up and approached Mei Xiang who was sleeping in front of the door to the patio, and she bleats a welcoming sound. He climbs on top of her, and somehow indicated he wanted to nurse so she moved them to the playpen. And listen to how noisy he is ~ lots of slurping, and he sang his nursing song a bit, but very quietly. When Mei indicated that he'd had enough, he wasn't having any of that ... he did his plaintive cry, and Mei sat back down and let him nurse some more! The next scene is from early this morning ... Qi Ji walking along the wall of windows. Then he spotted the treat feeder and was playing for it for a bit. Then, in one of the silliest moves, he was in one of room 3's playpens and he leaned back and tumbled backward into the other playpen! The final scene was after they moved to room 2, and besides showing his adorable self, someone had mentioned that he had a little paunch, and this position showed it! Sometimes he looks long and lean (like when he was window walking), and sometimes he looks like a chubby cubbie, (like when he was walking to the treat feeder).
