Even in this section, there are many houses on both sides of the tracks. This area was once a rural area, but with the opening of the railway, it became a prime location where you can reach Ikebukuro, one of Tokyo's most popular downtown areas, in less than an hour. Since development took place relatively early, there are few high-rise apartment buildings and many detached houses. Kawagoe, which is on the way, was a town that flourished as the center of the region during the Edo period, and water transportation was the background to this. The Edo Shogunate intentionally prevented land transportation from developing in order to prevent the occurrence of a military coup. The roads were narrow and winding, and technology was not developed so that vehicles could only be made the size of a cart. As a result, the main means of transportation in Japan during the Edo period was by boat, and riverside towns that could be used for boat transportation developed. The situation was the same in Edo. JR also extends its tracks in Kawagoe, and the station has a platform adjacent to it. However, because the JR tracks do not go directly to Tokyo, development has been delayed, and this continues to this day.
