Science often takes place in ivory towers, whilst graphic designers use images to explain almost all facets of our daily life. Connecting scientists and designers paves the way for a comprehensible language that makes knowledge accessible for everybody. Our goal is to create a network of scientists, artists and journalists to spread the power of knowledge. Upon completing a degree in Anthropology and German philology, working at the same time in child and youth work, environmental education and landscape conservation, Mona Schreiber started as a scientist and PhD student in a plant research institute. Currently, she is completing her doctorate about cereal domestication. Her interdisciplinary background and the desire to explain what she does clearly showed her the lack in science communication. Therefore, her enthusiasm for art became a substantial part of her work and when Thomas, a scientist at Halle University, reached out to her for ‘The Art of Science’ initiative this passion was sparked. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
