In hindsight, I should've either tried Normal Mode or pulled back on the customization. It became clear that the hack didn't feature setup moves, so giving Dragon Dance to Scraggy was perhaps excessive. At the same time, I needed that so I could beat Roxanne with only 3 Fighting-types. I was very stubborn in beating the major trainers with only 3 mons. It of course made a lot of battles so damn hard. Roxanne and the back-to-back Maxie and Archie battles were the hardest major trainer battles in the run. Some of the unavoidable non-major trainers were also brutal. Seriously, some of the Mossdeep Gym trainers were overwhelmingly hard. The monotype was a huge contributor to that, along with the perma Trick Room setting. For those and many other non-major battles, I used a full team. Some of those could've been worth recording, but then there are others that are very easy. On top of that, those battles don't restore consumable items, so I'd battle them using itemless mons, or Sitrus Berries, since I had so many to spare. It also became clear during the run that I shouldn't spoil myself with the items I could purchase through Casual Mode. I basically tried to act like this was "Normal Mode," but used certain conveniences from Casual Mode. This included being able to buy nature mints and freely changing abilities with the capsules and patches. In future runs, I'll commit to only these things and completely avoid setup moves and duplicate items (apart from those you can get multiple of). I'm certainly keeping IVs perfect. I don't know if that's default in Normal Mode, I hope so. Otherwise, the hack would be even harder. Yeah, this was a pretty difficult hack. The AI was pretty good. The Github for the hack is very extensive and helpful, but I was too lazy to read the AI documentation. Perhaps the run would've been easier if I looked into that. Going back to Maxie and Archie, if I had used a full team, it would've been easier. But holy crap, sticking to just 3 was almost impossible. I tried different combinations and came up short. I got very close with 2 H-Liligants and Kommo-o. It turned out that the team worked, but I still had to rely on major RNG cheese, and that was mainly through the damn Focus Band on the 2nd H-Liligant! Without the Focus Band, I would not have been able to do the back-to-back battle with 3 Fighting-types. For the E4, I just couldn't bother trying with 3 mons. I went with a full team and it only took a few attempts! That convinces me that if I had done the whole run with a full team, it would've been much more tolerable. Instead, I made the whole experience a little close to Hardcore Mode in Radical Red. There are major differences, of course. Setup moves are basically banned along with weather moves. No banned abilities, which is very crucial. Quaquaval became one of the best mons in the run because of Aqua Step and Moxie. Blaziken with Speed Boost was helpful. Strangely, there are no egg moves. There aren't a lot of changes for the roster here. No type changes. Moveset changes mainly involve the removal of setup moves. Protect isn't banned. I suppose this puts Lucid closer to Insane Mode Unbound because restrictions aren't as rampant as field effects and conditions that benefit the AI. Despite all that, it was a worthwhile playthrough. Subsequent runs will be better simply because I have a better idea of the hack. For this monotype, it sucked that certain mons were not available. It would've been nice to have Sawk solely because of Sturdy. No Crabominable sucked since Ice coverage was limited. I enabled Mega Evolution, but that was before realizing that the AI doesn't use it. As such, I prevented myself from using Mega Lopunny and Mega Lucario, thus those mons weren't used. Not a fan of making almost every trainer necessary to beat, having egg move access would've been cool, but overall, this was a good hack. The progression was interesting, having Flannery be the last Gym Leader was unique. The E4 was certainly unique, perhaps showing heavy bias from the dev. To put it bluntly, they're all waifus.
