The Barona Pow Wow 2025 wrapped up Sunday with an incredible grand entry schedule, cultural pride, and community spirit. Held at the Barona Recreation Center on the Barona Indian Reservation near San Diego, this free pow wow featured dancing, drums, vendors, and family gatherings — making it one of the best pow wows I’ve ever attended! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ya’at’eeh! Aaron Tsosie here — the person behind the camera at Indigenous Event Recordings! I’ve been to so many events over the past three years, but this Barona Pow Wow gets a gold star — it’s been absolutely fantastic! There were plenty of porta potties, hotels nearby, camping available, running water, and of course the casino just down the road. The arena had so much space for dancers, plus bleachers and large tents for everyone to sit together. Food prices were a bit high and the weather was hot, but that’s out of the pow wow’s control. What really stood out to me was the grand entry schedule: 2pm and 8pm. The later start gave everyone an extra hour in the morning to rest or explore San Diego, and the 8pm session avoided the worst of the heat — by then, the sun was already down. The 2pm sessions were shorter, so most of the pow wow energy happened in the evenings. Honestly, whoever designed this schedule deserves credit, and I think more pow wows in hot places (looking at you, Arizona Pow Wows 😅) should copy it. I would absolutely love to come back next year — and hopefully be streaming live with a small crew! A huge thank you to the Arnold Family, the Head Boy's family, for inviting me, supporting me, and even providing me with a hotel so I didn’t have to sleep in my car like I usually do. Traveling every weekend is expensive, but I carry this work with honor, and I’m determined to make YouTube my career. Thank you to everyone who watches and supports my work — it means so much to me. Who else gets to do this?! I’ll see you at the next pow wow! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 📢 Support My Work 🎯 Help me keep documenting Indigenous events — send a tip via Venmo: @imaarontoasty 💌 Want to support long-term?
