Denise Balthrop Cassidy

Denise is joy-scatterer, philanthropist, activist, spouse, and mom. Her 30-plus year career as a theatre professional included touring the U.S. performing with the National Players, singing for the troops with the Department of Defense, teaching acting behind the Iron Curtain for the US Information Agency, serving as a Resident Professional Theatre Associate at Cornell University, and acting on stages large and small across the country. As an actor, Denise also worked to bring focus to the AIDS health crisis, advocated for survivors, and campaigned with political candidates who made this a priority. In 1998, Denise married the love of her life and biggest fan, attorney Barney Cassidy, a graduate of Harvard Law School. In 2014, when Barney was recruited by Juno Therapeutics, a cancer immunotherapy company in Seattle, the Cassidy family relocated from the Bay Area to the Pacific Northwest. Denise helped One Love Foundation establish a presence in the Seattle area, and proudly serves on both its Pacific NorthWest regional advisory board and national board of directors. Denise also continues to serve the performing arts community through her board work with The Actors Center in NYC (theactorscenter.org) and supporting innovative theatrical projects.
