Easy and fast cheese scones for breakfast, snack, or any other meal as you will love them. TIME REQUIREMENT 25 minutes (or even 20 when you are hungry :) INGREDIENTS 300 g / 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 3 tbsp oat bran 75 g butter, cubed and softened at room temperature or in the microwave for 10 sec 180 g cheddar/Havarti, grated 225 ml milk 1 tbsp lemon juice flour for dusting -HOWTOs - 1. Heat the oven to 425° F / 220 C°. 2. Combine flour, salt, oat bran, and baking soda in a large bowl. Rub in the butter with hands so that butter cubes are well coated and mixed with the flour but there are still butter chunks. 3. Stir in the cheese, then the milk, and bring together to make a soft dough. The dough should be quite moist and sticky so if it feels like it is a little dry, add a splash of milk to the dough. This dough does not like kneading as gluten that is developing during kneading will make the scones less soft. 4. Lightly dust the working surface with a little flour. Flatten with hands or roll out the dough to have about 1 ½ cm thick dough sheet. Dip round cookie cutter (1 ½ in / 4cm) in the flour, place on the dough and push the cutter firmly without twisting the cutter as it will make the scones rise unevenly. Take the trimmings and roll out another dough sheet, which will be smaller than the first one, and cut scones again. The very last trimmings can be shaped in the round with hands. 5. Place the scones on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15 min. The scones shall rise well and turn golden when ready. Cool on a wire rack before serving on their own. Or pair them with ham, soft cheese, avocadoes, fresh tomatoes, or any topping of your choice and enjoy!
