Hey everyone and welcome back to the channel. This video is the second part of my Battlefield discussion series, where I talk about the biggest problems I see in the current state of the franchise and why I eventually stopped playing. In the previous video, I talked about the loss of Battlefield’s core identity. Today we are diving into another issue that, in my opinion, is just as important: the decline of teamplay and squadplay. For me, Battlefield was always more than just a shooter. It was a game about cooperation, coordination, and working together as a squad. Infantry, vehicles, and different classes all played their roles in a larger battle. That combination created the unique Battlefield experience that many players fell in love with. But today, I often feel like that foundation is slowly disappearing. One of the biggest changes I notice is the lack of communication within squads. In many matches, random squads rarely interact with each other. Players often move across the map on their own, rarely coordinate attacks, and rarely support their teammates with revives, ammo, or strategic positioning. Instead of squads functioning as small tactical units, they often feel like four random players who just happen to spawn near each other. Another thing that stands out to me is how many players act as lone wolves. Instead of pushing objectives together or coordinating flanks, players often run across the map on their own. The result is that matches sometimes feel less like a structured battlefield and more like a chaotic deathmatch with little strategic direction. Transport vehicles are another example of this shift. In older Battlefield titles, these vehicles were essential for moving squads around the map and launching coordinated pushes. Today they are often underused, driven by single players, or left empty. The tactical mobility they once provided is rarely used to its full potential. Objectives are also frequently ignored. Instead of focusing on capturing and defending key points, many players prioritize kills, challenges, or personal progression. When objectives lose importance, the entire structure of the match begins to break down. Coordinated attacks and defenses are becoming rarer as well. In older Battlefield games, squads would gather, push together, and defend positions strategically. Those moments created tension and excitement. Today, many attacks happen individually, with players running toward objectives alone and being eliminated quickly. For me, all of this leads to a reduction in tactical depth. Battlefield used to be about positioning, teamwork, and strategy. When squad coordination disappears, those elements disappear with it. And when that happens, Battlefield starts to feel less like a large-scale tactical war game and more like a generic shooter. This video is not meant to be a hate video. My goal is to start a discussion about what Battlefield used to do well and what could be improved in the future. I still believe the franchise has incredible potential if the right design decisions are made. Let me know in the comments what your experience has been. Do you still feel strong teamplay in Battlefield today, or do you think the game has shifted more toward individual play? If you enjoy this kind of in-depth Battlefield discussion, consider subscribing to the channel. This series will continue with more topics, including gameplay balance, progression systems, monetization, map design, and the overall future of the franchise. Thanks for watching, and I will see you in the next video. – The General Mattis 🔥 HASHTAGS #Battlefield6 #Battlefield #BattlefieldDiscussion #BattlefieldCommunity #FPSGames #GamingDiscussion #BattlefieldTeamplay #BattlefieldSquadplay #FPSAnalysis #TheGeneralMattis
