“Turn to the LORD with all your heart”

Joel Chapter 2: 1-32 (Verse 1 — Joel 2:1 — The Warning) Blow the trumpet in Zion, Sound the alarm on God’s holy hill, Let the people of the land all tremble, For the day of the LORD draws near still. It’s a day of darkness and of deep gloom, Clouds and thick shadows cover the skies, A great and mighty people are coming, Like none before, and none shall arise. (Verse 2 — Joel 2:12–13 — The Call to Repentance) Before them fire devours, Behind them flames consume, Before them lies Eden’s beauty, Behind—a wilderness tomb. They run like horses in their power, Like chariots leap to the fight, Like fire that devours the stubble, Strong warriors clothed in the night. (Verse 3 — Joel 2:32 — The Promise of Salvation) The earth will quake before them, The heavens will tremble in fear, The sun and moon grow darkened, The stars lose their light so clear. The LORD will utter His thunder, Before His mighty host, Great is the camp of the Holy One, Strong is the God we boast. (Chorus — Joel 2:12–14 — The Call to Repentance) Turn to the LORD with all your heart, With fasting, weeping, and cries; Rend your hearts, not just your robes, And mercy will open the skies. For gracious is our God, Slow to anger, full of grace, Who knows if He will turn and bless, And shine His favor on this place? (Verse 4 — Joel 2:15–17 — The Solemn Assembly) Blow the trumpet in Zion again, Call the solemn assembly near, Gather the people, elders, and children, Let bridegroom and bride both hear. Let the priests cry out between porch and altar: “O LORD, spare Your people, we pray, Do not give us over to reproach, Let the nations not say—Where is their God today?” (Bridge 1 Promise — Joel 2:18–22 — God’s Jealous Love & Restoration of the Land) Then the LORD will be jealous for Zion, He will pity His chosen ones, He will send the grain, the wine, the oil, And bless us under the sun. Fear not, O land, be glad and rejoice, For the LORD will do great things, The pastures will bloom, the trees will bear fruit, And joy will rise on the wings. (Verse 5 — Joel 2:23–27 — The Restoration Promise) The children of Zion will be glad, Rejoicing in the LORD our God, For the former and latter rain will fall, Restoring the years that were robbed. We will eat in plenty and be satisfied, And bless His holy Name, And we will know He dwells with us, Forever and always the same. (Bridge 2 Outpouring — Joel 2:28–30 — The Spirit Poured Out) Afterward it shall come to pass, His Spirit will pour on all flesh, Sons and daughters will prophesy, Old men will dream afresh. Servants and handmaids in that day, Will know the Spirit’s flame, And wonders in heaven and earth will show The glory of His Name. (Verse 6 — Joel 2:31–32 — The Final Prophecy) The sun will be turned into darkness, The moon into blood-red light, Before the great and terrible day, When the LORD returns in might. But all who call on His Name will be saved, In Zion and Jerusalem’s call, For the LORD has promised deliverance To the remnant He redeems from all. (Final Chorus / Outro) Blow the trumpet in Zion, Sound the alarm on God’s holy hill, The day of the LORD is coming, Let hearts return to Him still. For gracious is our God, Slow to anger, full of grace, And all who call upon His Name Shall see Him face to face.
