Most of us say we don’t like negativity… but if we’re honest, we spend a lot of time feeding it. I was so addicted to juicy gossip blogs and chit chats with friends where we talked about the juicy negative current events, complained, and shared all of the latest gossip. Gossip, drama, bad news, judging others, criticizing ourselves, etc. These small daily habits slowly train the brain to look for what’s wrong instead of what’s right. This isn’t because we’re negative people. It’s because of something called negativity bias, which is a natural survival mechanism that makes our brain pay more attention to threats and problems. But over time, when we constantly feed this bias through gossip, drama, and conflict, it can become a habit of mind. We start scanning for negativity everywhere, even when we’re safe. In this video we talk about: • what negativity bias actually is • how it turns into a daily habit • why gossip, drama, and bad news are so addictive • how negativity slowly shapes our outlook on life • how we can start retraining our mind toward balance The goal isn’t to ignore difficult things or pretend negativity doesn’t exist. Life includes both positive and negative experiences. The goal is balance and to retrain our mind to also see the positive things that are equally happening around us. At the end of the video I also share a simple daily practice you can try to begin shifting this pattern.
