A new proposal could soon mandate visitors from over 40 countries, including Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom, to share their social media accounts with the U.S. government to gain entry. Currently, these visitors, staying less than 90 days, have the option to list their social media accounts through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). Travel expert Gary Leff of viewfromthewing.com expressed concerns about the potential impact on airlines, stating, "If it means fewer travelers that come to the United States, even a few percentage points, that is going to affect their flying of more marginal routes, and it is going to affect the direct options Americans have as well."
