After a recent test run to Cranmore on the East Somerset Railway    • Britannic Explorer heads to Cranmore +  50...   Friday evening saw the Belmond Britannic Explorer make its debut run taking passengers from London Victoria to Taunton, Bishops Lydeard and then onto Minehead. This excursion doesn’t come cheap but offers the highest class of luxury to its passengers, and we begin at Tauton, where the Britannic Explorer liveried 66748 ‘St Michael’s Mount’ leads the stock into Platform 4, with 66744 ‘Heart of Wales’ wearing GBRF livery bringing up the rear. We then pick up action along the line, firstly at Bishops Lydeard, where the sleeper continued heading for Minehead. We see it passing Williton and Blue Anchor where the light was quickly fading, and after an hour stop at Ker Moor, the train finally reach Minehead for the first time just before 22.00! The train is planned to run from London Victoria for stabling at the West Somerset Railway on Friday evenings before heading to Cornwall over the weekend and then returning to the East Somerset Railway on Sunday evenings and leaving to continue touring the UK early on Monday mornings on selected running dates, which will provide very welcome income for both preserved railways so it was great having the opportunity to witness the inaugural run here! | 29.08.2025 I hope you enjoy this video and thank you for watching!
